Lovely view, relaxing, and civic… the ingeniously designed park has opened in a very fashionable district of the Meat Packing.

This is a hanging garden, which is constructed with RE-USE of The High Line whose height is of 30 feet in the air. It gives us the sweeping views of The Hudson River, Chelsea and the Empire State Building.

The High Line was built in the 1930s, as part of a massive public & private infrastructure project called the West Side Improvement. It lifted freight traffic in the air, removing dangerous trains from the streets of Manhattan’s largest industrial district. It hasn’t been used since the 80’s. In 2002, a study done by Friends of the High Line finds that the High Line project was economically rational, and thus the construction began in 2006.

Design team of the landscape, architects James Corner Field Operations, with Diller Scofidio & Renfro, created the High Line’s public landscape with guidance through a diverse community of High Line supporters. Whom were carefully selected from 720 teams entering from 36 different countries. A contemporary design filled with artistic sense perfectly represents and complements this area.

New Yorkers × Hip lounges = Stylish, has seen better days. Hanging out in the trendy park is here to stay, along with the Eco and healthy boom.

絶景、リラックス、アーバン…新感覚のパークがファッショナブルな地区、ミートパッキングにオープンした。

この公園は、高さ9メートルのハイラインをRE-USEして建設された空中庭園。ここからはハドソン川とニュージャージ、チェルシー、エンパイアステイトビルディングが一望できる。

1930年代に、大規模なウエストサイド地区発達のためのプロジェクトとして建設されたハイライン。当時、大きな工業地帯だったこの地区で、貨物はこの高架を走る汽車で運送された。80年代以降は使われていなかったが、2002年に公共施設として使われることで同意され、06年に本格的に着工が進められた。残された線路が、今もその当時の面影を残している。

デザインチームはランドスケープ建築のJames Corner Field Operations、建築家Diller Scofidio + Renfro。36各国720の作品から厳選された。アート感覚あふれるコンテンポラリーデザインは、このエリアならでは。

ニューヨーカー×ヒップなラウンジ＝お洒落はもう古い。エコ、健康ブームに伴って、これからはスタイリッシュな公園でハングアウトの時代である。
