The Closing Party for the art exhibition “PIGEONHOLE” was held at Dumbo Arts Center in Brooklyn last Saturday evening.
The exhibit was the brainchild of Reina Kubota and Hang Xu and consisted of a maze crafted by thousands of cardboard boxes. The name “ PIGEONHOLE” refers to the classification process by which disparate entities are grouped together. As I walked through the dim maze of boxes, brand logos and various letters caught my attention and I happily imagined who may have created the boxes.
Music for the event was provided by the Japanese band Robin’s Egg Blue who collaborated with a viola player Alexandra Honigsberg. The sounds of the viola helped to add a dramatic atmosphere to Robin’s soothing melody.

土曜の夜、アート展「PIGEONHOLE」のクロージング・レセプションがブルックリンのDumbo Arts Centerで開催された。
Reina KubotaとHang Xuは廃棄されたダンボールを利用して迷路を作り、PIGEONHOLE（整理棚）と名付けた。薄暗い迷路の中を歩いていると、箱に書かれたブランドロゴ や様々な文字が目に飛び込んでくる。それらの箱の持ち主を想像して歩いたりするも面白かった。
音楽を提供した日本人バンドのRobin’s Egg Blueは、このイベントのためにヴィオラ奏者のAlexandraとコラボレーションを実現。Robin’sの心地よいサウンドに、ヴィオラの音色がドラマチックな雰囲気を添えていた。
