Fashion Weekといえば、ブライアントパークのテントに訪れるのも楽しみのひとつ。中でも、会場にずらっと設置された企業ブースは毎回見物です。 今回、ラウンジの真ん中に堂々と目立っていたのは、今年生誕５０周年を迎えるバービー。ショッキングピンクで作られた”BARBIE”の巨大な文字は、ガーリーなバービーのイメージを見事に演出。ストライプ模様のアルファベットかと思いきや、近くで見るとそのストライプを作っていたのは、なんとたくさんのバービー人形たち！！ 初のニューヨークコレクション、ランウエーショー開催に引き続き、３月にはマリブで誕生日パーティー、パリのコレットに特別展示会とブティックをオープンするなど、今後世界各国でバービーの５０歳のバースデイが盛大にお祝いされる予定。 ティーンエイジのファッションモデルとして１９５９年に誕生したバービー人形だが、今となってはバービーとともに成長した大人たちにまで親しまれるファッションアイコンとなっている。バービーの存在感と偉大さに改めて気づかされた夜だった。 Visiting the Bryant Park tent is one of most exciting parts of the Fashion Week.
